Web 2.0 gurus to talk at Think and a Drink – register now!

Date: Thursday 7 February

Time: 6pm (registration) – 8.30pm (networking and nibbles after the speakers)

Venue: Conference Centre, Centre For Life, Times Square, Newcastle

Cost: Free to Codeworks Connect members, £15 to non-members

Sign up now to register for the first Think and a Drink of 2008 – Web 2.0 for Business, an event that could make a massive difference to how you do business and your bottom line.

At the event on 7 February, we will be taking an in-depth look at Web 2.0 – is it an evolution, revolution or simply a buzzword that captured the imagination?

Online social networks, utility software and hardware and a new focus of openness are changing the web. In turn businesses are being impacted in innumerable ways – from reducing costs on expensive infrastructure to reducing productivity with Facebook.

Join us at Web 2.0 for Business, where we will be looking for lessons learned and new tricks found, both by large enterprise organisations and by the new breed of internet start-ups.

Speaking at the event will be Gareth Rushgrove and Paul Downey. Gareth is a freelance web design and development consultant based in Newcastle, who specialises in agile practises and user centred design.

Paul is the chief web services architect at BT and has over 20 years experience ‘hacking about with communications software’. Paul is an inveterate hacker who passionately believes in the commons, has a love of the web, and will advocate Open Source given any opportunity.

After Paul and Gareth have shared their expert views, there will be an opportunity to network whilst enjoying some light refreshments and nibbles.
