SOCITM is the Society of IT Management and draws its members from senior IT management across the public and voluntary sectors and IT suppliers to those sectors.
The North East region has more than 60 SOCITM members representing around 30 organisations (councils, housing providers, national government agencies, academia, health and emergency services and their suppliers) that between them employ upto 2,000 ICT professionals and influence a significant amount of ICT spending.
We hold quarterly themed meetings in central locations in the region; these attract up to 25 members and invited guests.
As well as being able to come along to our meetings, members benefit from
· representation on SOCITM’s National Advisory Committee, the Local Government CIO Council and Socitm Futures
· local joint research activities
· access to local online discussion groups
· membership of Codeworks Connect, giving access to events and activities from the North East’s digital centre of excellence
Our last meeting, in September at Ramside Hall Hotel in Durham was sponsored by Cable and Wireless and looked at cloud computing and the public sector network (PSN).
Our next meeting is on 17thDecember, also at Ramside Hall Hotel, where we’ll be discussing thelatest issues in ICT security.
