February’s Think and a Drink gives you the chance to exercise your vocal chords in an age old debate… How can Universities and Business work together to produce more "industry ready" graduates to ensure the growth of the digital sector in the region?

Academia and Industry will get together to explore:

•How universities and industry are engaging currently?

•How effective is this format of engagement?

•If there is a better way of working together?

•What are the barriers in terms of collaborating on a larger scale?

•What key skills are graduates missing (if any)?

•What are the future skills needs for the creative and digital sector?

Opening the event is Laura Woods, Director of Academic Enterprise, University of Teesside. This University recently won the title of University of the Year. Followed by Andrew Parella Chief Software Architect, Eutechnyx - the biggest independent UK videogame developers.

We then will have a good old fashioned debate where panellists from the Universities of Durham, Newcastle, Northumbria, Sunderland and Teesside will take questions along with Industry Panellists from 21st Centaury Media, British Airways Cobweb Information, Eutechnyx and Orange Bus. The session will be Chaired by Di Gates of Stick Theory.

This event is a chance for you to have your say on ‘The Debate’ and help produce the best digital talent here in the North East.
